University student, Remy Virmani, was introduced to the world of Procurement Tech during a summer placement at ProProcure. Read all about her experience below…

A Summer At ProProcureFirstly, I would like to thank everyone here at ProProcure who have welcomed me into the company and for giving me this opportunity to complete work experience. Working at ProProcure has really built up my confidence and sense of professionalism massively.

Having just finished my first year at the University of Birmingham, studying Economics I was thinking more and more about my career prospects. With Economics being a broad subject – it can be related to many different areas including Procurement so I was excited to find out more about the industry during my summer placement.

I started with ProProcure in June, working part-time for 2 to 3 days a week but soon I was asked to start working full time. Not long after, I felt settled in and more familiar with the work I needed to complete.

Throughout my placement, my role was varied and I got to experience a range of different tasks. I was working mostly with the Marketing and Client Success Teams, with Sian (Marketing Manager) being my go-to person and acting as my mentor. I was given many responsibilities but to name a few, I created internal and client email campaigns, carried out extensive market research, learnt how to use video editing software, and created user guides for internal applications. I also had the opportunity to show my creative side and helped to design some social media graphics.

Each of these tasks gave me an insight into the day to day work that is completed in the Procurement industry and it gave me a sense of accomplishment to see work I had completed being used for the real world.

I have learnt how to manage my time better, making sure I meet deadlines, how to use lots of different applications such as ActiveCampaign and MailChimp and how to research more effectively. I have gained knowledge about the Procurement industry and have a better understanding of how online quotation tools work.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and my time at ProProcure is no exception. I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement here over the last two and a half months and everything I have learnt whilst being here will be so useful to me in the future.
